Netflix has added some incredible anime titles to its library over the past year. Besides the classics, there are a great number of originals that are holding their own against titles that have been in the canon for years. It took care to introduce a variety of genres: there are plenty of action, comedy, and romance series available. It's time to explore even the weirdest corners of Netflix to find binge-worthy content, and we're here to help you. Listed below are 25 anime series available on Netflix that are sure to please both anime veterans and newcomers alike.
Neon Genesis: Evangelion
Neo Genesis Evangelion is a mecha anime television series produced by Gainax and animated by Tatsunoko, directed by Hideaki Anno. It follows the experiences and emotions of Evangelion pilots and Nerv members as they attempt to stop Angels from causing more cataclysms. By doing so, they seek to understand the ultimate motives behind human actions and the causes of events. The story of Neon Genesis Evangelion centers on Shinji Ikari, a young man recruited to pilot a giant biomechanical robot created to fight mysterious alien entities (known as the Angels) attacking the post-cataclysm Tokyo-3.
Baki
Keisuke Itagaki wrote and illustrated a manga series of the same name, which inspired this original net animation series. This anime adaptation adapts the Darkest Death Row Convicts Saga of the second manga series. Baki Hanma trains with intense focus to become stronger than his father, Yuujirou Hanma, the strongest fighter in the world. A group of five of the world's most violent and brutal death row inmates are preparing to confront Baki. Their aim is to taste defeat - their unmatched strength and skill have led to them growing bored with life and they have now sought out Baki in order to utterly crush them. Baki is joined by these underground martial artists during this crisis: Doppo Orochi, Kaoru Hanayama, Gouki Shibukawa, and Kaiou Retsu.
Little Witch Academia
Yoh Yoshinari created and produced Little Witch Academia, a Japanese anime franchise. A prestigious school for young girls training to become witches, Luna Nova Magical Academy is the setting for Little Witch Academia. Akko Kagari enrolls at Luna Nova Magical Academy, inspired by Shiny Chariot, to become a witch, but struggles due to her non-magical background. She changes all of this when she discovers the Shiny Rod, the magical relic left behind by Chariot. Throughout the series, Akko and her friends, Lotte and Sucy, go on many magical adventures together, recalling all of the events from the previous films.
Demon Slayer
Koyoharu Gotouge is the author and illustrator of the manga series Demon Slayer. As part of a new mission with the Flame Pillar, a boy raised by boars, wearing a boar's head, boards the Infinity Train with a boy whose true power is revealed when he sleeps. Demonslayers are sent to stop the torment and kill the demons who oppose it. The story revolves around teenage Tanjiro Kamado, who aspires to be a demon slayer after his family was slaughtered, and his younger sister turned into a demon.
Hunter x Hunter
Author and illustrator Yoshihiro Togashi is known for his book Hunter X Hunter (pronounced "hunter hunter"). A young boy named Gon Freecss discovers that his father, who left him at a young age, is actually a legendary Hunter who specializes in hunting unidentified animal species, locating treasure, exploring unexplored enclaves, or hunting down lawless individuals. Eventually, he will find his father and become a Hunter. The journey leads Gon to meet other Hunters and encounter the paranormal.
Beastars
The anime series Beestars is produced by Studio Orange. Netflix has licensed the manga, which was written and illustrated by Paru Itagaki. Herbivores and carnivores coexist in a world populated by anthropomorphic animals. School life at Cherryton Academy is filled with hope, romance, distrust, and anxiety. Legoshi the gray wolf is the main character and a member of the drama club. While he appears menacing, he has a soft heart. It has been a constant source of fear and hatred for him for most of his life, and he's grown accustomed to that lifestyle. As time passes, he becomes more involved with his classmates, who also have their own insecurities, and his school life slowly begins to change.
Devilman Crybaby
Based on the original Devilman manga series, Devilman Crybaby is an anime series. A sensitive demon-boy is led into a brutal, degenerate war against evil by a mysterious friend, Ryo, during a time when demons have reawakened and humanity is in turmoil. As demons are reawakened and humanity is in turmoil, Ryo, a mysterious friend, guides a sensitive demon-boy into a brutal war against evil. Akira Fudo discovers that demons will revive and reclaim the world from humans through his best friend Ryo Asuka. As humans are hopeless against the threat, Ryo suggests joining forces with a demon. As a result, Akira becomes Devilman, a being with the powers of demons but a human heart.
Attack On Titan
Attack on Titan is an anime television series produced by IG Port's Wit Studio and directed by Tetsurō Araki, with Yasuko Kobayashi handling series composition and Kyōji Asano providing character designs. There is a world in which humanity lives in cities surrounded by three enormous walls that protect them from giant man-eating humanoids called Titans; the story follows Eren Yeager, who vows to exterminate them after a Titan annihilates his hometown and kills his mother.
Kakegurui
The anime series Kakegurui is based on the manga of the same title, written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Tōru Naomura. The deranged and unpredictable lead of Kakegurui drives his insane work of increasingly high stakes and the evolution of mental states. Kakegurui takes grotesque sexuality and twisted power dynamics to the next level with stunning animation courtesy of MAPPA (Kids on the Slope, Yuri on Ice!) Psychological horror at its finest. Because of its absurd philosophizing and its excessive visual style, this is the kind of anime you can't look away from.
Naruto
Masashi Kishimoto wrote and illustrated the manga series Naruto. Naruto Uzumaki is a young ninja who hopes to become the leader of his village, the Hokage, and seeks recognition from his peers. Two parts of the story are told, the first depicting Naruto's pre-adolescent years, and the second depicting his adolescent years. It is the spirit demon within Naruto that guides him as he learns to harness his ninja powers in this anime series. First anime adaptation of Masashi Kishimoto's manga series, one of the best sellers of all time.
Cells At Work
Cells at Work! This animation is as clean and pretty as one would expect from an Aniplex production, with a cute, upbeat opening sequence that matches.Cells at Work is a high-energy comedy that takes place within the human body. Throughout the series, we follow the red blood cell as she moves throughout the body, stumbling upon the most dangerous viruses and bacteria all the while. Countless threats are faced by these cells - once you stop counting it becomes funny. Even the tiniest scrape wound makes these anthropogenic microorganisms shriek bloody murder, and it's hilarious watching the manga-style adaptation of science in action.
The Disastrous Life Of Saiki K: Reawakened
A manga series written and illustrated by Shuichi Aso, titled The Disastrous Life of Saiki K: Reawakened, describes the life of Saiki K in Japan. A teenage boy born with psychic abilities is the subject of this second episode of a comedy series. His powers might have you thinking he lives a glamorous life, or that he adheres to some self-righteous vow to be a masked vigilante, but no. In the minds of his peers, he just wants to get home safely without hearing spoilers for his favorite shows. While he struggles to maintain his powers while keeping his abilities a secret from his classmates, who all seem to be screwed up, Kusuo struggles to deal with the inconveniences that come along with his psychic abilities. With its six episodes, the second series revamps the wacky scenarios we loved in the first series, and further pushes the envelope with its wacky scenarios. Gurren Lagann
The anime television series Gurren Lagann was created and animated by Gainax and coproduced by Aniplex and Konami. The Dai-Gurren brigade of Simon and the Spiral King must journey into space to defeat a new threat and save the universe seven years after defeating the Spiral King. The final battle for Simon and his team is about to begin.
Fate/Zero
It This prequel to Type-Moon's Fate/stay night visual novel, written by Gen Urobuchi and illustrated by Takashi Takeuchi, has been adapted into an anime by Ufotable. Taking place ten years prior to Fate/stay Night, Fate/Zero tells the story of the Fourth Holy Grail War, a magical tournament held in Fuyuki City, Japan, where seven mages known as Masters summon Servants, reincarnated heroes and souls from all across history, where they compete in a deadly battle royale in which the winner obtains the Holy Grail, a magical chalice with the power to grant wishes. Shirou Emiya's foster father, Kiritsugu Emiya, is an assassin known for his brutality who joins the tournament on behalf of the Einzberns, his wife's family.
Ouran High School
The manga series Ouran High School Host Clu was written and illustrated by Bisco Hatori. The series follows Haruhi Fujioka, a scholarship student at the prestigious Ouran Academy, a fictitious school for rich kids located in Bunkyo, Tokyo. Haruhi stumbles upon an abandoned Third Music Room, where a group of six male students gathers to entertain female "clients" with sweets and tea. Haruhi accidentally destroys a vase valued at *8,000,000 (around US$80,000) during their first meeting, and must work off the debt by running errands around the club. The Hosts mistakenly believe she's a male student due to her short hair, slouching posture, and gender-ambiguous face, but upon realizing her true gender and how natural she is at entertaining girls, they promote her to full Host status.
Pop Team Epic
A four-panel surreal comedy webcomic and digital manga written and illustrated by Bkub Okawa, "Pop Team Epic" is a Japanese four-panel comic. Throughout the manga, two teenage girls named Popuko and Pipimi experience a variety of mundane and bizarre situations and react to them in equally bizarre and exaggerated ways. Known for parodies of pop culture and combining surrealism, absurdity, and non-sequitur, the manga has developed a cult following among both Japanese and Western audiences.
Sword Art Online
A science fantasy anime series adapted from the popular light novel series of the same name by Reki Kawahara and illustrated by abec. The first season focuses on the adventures of Kazuto "Kirito" Kirigaya and Asuna Yuuki, two playmates trapped in a virtual world called "Sword Art Online" (SAO). The goal is to defeat the final boss and clear all 100 floors of the game to be released. Throughout the first season, we follow the adventures of Kazuto "Kirito" Kirigaya and Asuna Yuuki, two players trapped in the virtual world of "Sword Art Online" (SAO). Inuyasha
Rumiko Takahashi is the author and illustrator of the manga series Inuyasha. Inuyasha the half-dog, half-human demon meets Kagome Higurashi, a fifteen-year-old middle school girl from modern-day Tokyo who falls into a well at her family shrine and finds herself transported to the Sengoku period. Kagome accidentally breaks the sacred Shikon Jewel into dozens of fragments after it emerges from deep within her own body. During their quest to recover the Jewel's fragments, Inuyasha and Kagome are joined by the lecherous monk Miroku, the demon slayer Sango, and the fox demon Shippo. Seven Deadly Sins
Tomokazu Tokoro is the director of the Japanese fantasy manga television series The Seven Deadly Sins. A group of warriors wrongly accused of a crime they did not commit embarked on a quest to avenge themselves in the story of the Seven Deadly Sins. They were once an active group of knights in the region of Britannia, but disbanded once they were accused of plotting to overthrow the Liones Kingdom.
One-Punch Man
Japanese superhero One-Punch Man was created by artist ONE. It reveals the story of Saitama, a superhero who, as a result of his overwhelming strength, can defeat any adversary with a single punch, but longs for a worthy challenge after getting bored with a lack of challenge.
