Emily In Paris season 2

Our favorite binge-worthy escaping into a parallel universe series is back! Emily In Paris season 2 is streaming on Netflix, giving us the Christmas cheer this week! With bright flashy outfits, beautiful streets, and slightly messed up lives of Emily and those around her, season 2 is well on its way to being our weekend binge this week! So the second season takes off from where the first season ended. Emily's farewell to Gabriel turned rather passionate and steamy. The morning after brings in more complications that Emily's Americanness has to resolve immediately. But unlike the first season, this time we see more of other characters. Mindy, was disowned by her rich parents, was fired from her nanny job, and moved in with Emily. Now she is struggling to find a job that can support her financially, as a foreign passport holder. Emily, working through her guilt of sleeping with Gabriel tries to fix their relationship, but to little success. But she finds success in lots of other places. What started as the epic Andy vs Miranda Priestley relationship, has now softened to amiable colleagues. Emily and Sylvie have managed to become somewhat cordial to each other, though there is still no dearth to the mishaps between them. Mostly from Emily. As a punishment, Emily has to work on a lot of out-of-the-box deals. This season also focuses on Sylvie's growth from a mistress to a complete Boss lady. Camille though, unfortunately, remains a broken-hearted girl rather than the competent businesswoman who runs her family's business. Unlike the last season that Emily mostly spends in ignorance about the Paris culture, this season she decides to learn French. This leads her to meet the very handsome English Alfie suggesting another love triangle. Alfie has the best lines in the series though. When he said " Paris's reputation is all a facade, with smokes and mirrors selling you something that is not true" I fell in love. His realism clashes beautifully with Emily's romanticism and optimism. While we were simpering over Gabriel's electric blue eyes last season, this time he is pining over Emily, concentrating on the opening of his restaurant and being a first-class jerk to Camille. The last season's culturally blind tropes and controversies have not been corrected per se, but Emily In Paris is more of your breezy gateway to escapism rather than a brain stimulator. And it delivers an amazing escape into a parallel universe where Pandemic is just a word in the dictionary. For a fashionable escape, throw on your comfiest clothes and give yourself a Parisian Christmas! By SB
