Movie: Hypnotic Released: 27 October 2021, On Netflix Cast: Kate Siegel, Jason O'Mara, Dule Hill, Lucie Guest, Jaime M. Callica, Tanja Dixon-Warren Director: Matt Angel, Suzanne Coote Kate Siegel stars in another horror-thriller movie. Hypnotic, as is obvious from the name, is about the sinister side of hypnotherapy and also hypnotherapists. The movie starts with a woman in a lift. She gets a call from an unknown caller and answers it (Only happens in horror movies) and soon dies in an elevator accident. Cut to a party, we meet Jenn. She is an unemployed, single woman who is dealing with a broken engagement due to a miscarriage. Jenn's friend Gina suggests a therapist who she credits for all her success. Jenn visits this suave, handsome therapist, Dr. Collin Meade. Now Dr. Meade is also a master of hypnosis. With some strong cajoling and persuasion, he convinces Jenn to try hypnotherapy to deal with her sadness. Once she falls into the comfort of hypnotherapy and reaps its successful fruits strange things start happening. She suffers from blackouts. Ends up in places she has no memory about. And commits some serious fatal mistakes. But the best part, or the worst, is she has no recollection of doing any of these deeds. Coupled with a detective Jenn tries to find out what exactly is wrong here. With Hypnotic, it is abundantly clear at the beginning who the villain is. There is little suspense left after that. The entire movie after that is just Jenn reeling from the after-effects of hypnosis. For such brilliant actors, especially Kate Siegal after her dazzling performance in the recent Midnight Mass such a story seems to be settling for something less. Jason O'Mara shines as Dr. Meade and the supporting cast is nothing less either. But Hypnotic is unfortunately very forgettable among the numerous horror flicks released on Netflix recently. With such a stellar cast, and an intriguing plot of hypnosis, Hypnotic fails to leave a lasting impression. By SB
