In for a Murder (W Jak Morderstwo)

Series: In for a Murder (W Jak Morderstwo) Released: Netflix Director: Piotr Mularuk Cast: Anna Smolowik, Dorota Segda, Emma Giegzno, Jacek Knap, Olga Sarzynska, Pawel Domagala, Piotr Adamczyk, Przemyslaw Stippa, Rafal Królikowski and Szymon Bobrowski In for a murder is a Polish whodunnit set in a quaint town of Poland. Magda is our in-house Hercules Poirot or Nancy Drew, if you may. She is a simple housewife with a not-so-great, a tad bit unsupportive husband and two children. One fine night when Magda goes out for a walk, she stumbles upon a corpse. Now Magda is not your average housewife. She is sharp, observant and, smart. She is a voracious reader of murder mysteries. And plus she is a bored housewife so she has a lot of time on her hands. So why not just help solve the town's murder right? Magda assists the town detective in gathering clues and shreds of evidence about the murder and the dead woman. But soon she finds that the victim and everything related to the murder are blasts from her past. Diving deep into the case will need her to face some unpleasant truths from her past too. In for a Murder is slow moving but still only a little over two hours. The town where the murder takes place is an aesthetically pleasing town. It is not your typical murder mystery with dark themes or haunting backgrounds. It is witty and gripping at the same time. Magda's phone's ringtone is the music from Pink Panther! The detective rides around in a Vespa. The characters in In for a Murder are all quirky and perfect. The town politicians, the rich and, the influential, Magda's eccentric friend everyone is a feast to watch. In for a Murder does not waver from the theme of the series. Even though there are multiple storylines, the focus is rarely shifted from the murder and its investigation. Anna Smolowik is perfect as Magda. In spite of her ungrateful cheating husband, mundane lifestyle, and probable romances Magda does not let any of that come in the way of finding out the culprit. Even with a predictable ending, slow pace In for a Murder is a delightful watch. It is not your classic Knives Out whodunnit but it still is something to spend your time on. By SB
