Reviews - You, Season 3

Series: You, Season 3 Released: 15 October 2021, On Netflix Creator: Greg Berlanti, Sera Gamble Cast: Penn Badgley, Victoria Pedretti, Tati Gabrielle, Shalita Grant, Travis Van Winkle Netflix's favourite psychopath is back. But this time Joe Goldberg has a lot on his plate. A marriage, an infant to take care of, and his equally if not more, problematic wife. The third season takes off from Joe and Love getting married and moving to a suburban area called Madre Linda. They have an infant son named Henry. Joe works at a library and Love opens a bakery in the neighborhood. Initially we see how restricted their lives become. Work. Family. Home. But we all know that this will never be the case with this couple. There are a lot of new characters introduced. The "It" couple of town comprising of the new age tech-savvy mom-fluencer and an extremely supportive husband, Sherry, and Cary. The house next door is occupied by Natalie, who within a few minutes catches Joe's fancy. She is married to Matthew and stepmother to Theo. The neighborhood may seem perfect but it is far from the truth. It is full of pretentious hypocrites who only eat gluten-free food, live in the superficial world of social media. Joe and Love are struggling to keep their marriage alive. Joe feels a disconnect from his son and thinks that his son hates him. Meanwhile, Love feels insecure about Joe's wandering eyes and feels she is taking care of their son alone. At one point she bursts out and says that it wouldn't matter to her if he cheats on her as long his lust does not turn into an obsession. In this season it seems Joe is more cautious than Love. Joe's actions are executed only after planning to the last minute whereas Love is impulsive and controlled by emotions. Much of the season is spent cleaning up their messes. The third season is at its core is the same as the last two seasons. New objects of love, lust, obsession. Murders. Silencing troublemakers. Evading justice. But like the previous two seasons, you cannot help but go along with this psychopath's journey. But now it is double the fun because the psychopath has found another psychopath! By SB
