A Thai horror movie by the name The Whole Truth was released earlier this month. The story revolves around Pim and her brother Putt. Pim, Putt, and their mother Mai are living a relatively normal life. Pim is a popular high school cheerleader, whereas Putt is the awkward boy with a leg deformity. He has no friends and spends most of his time sketching. Mai is flourishing at her job, just having been promoted. She promises to take her children out for a celebration that night. Unfortunately, she has to work late and while coming back home, is hit by a drunk driver. Soon a man, Mr. Somphong knocks on Mai's door and informs the children that their mother had an accident, and is in a coma. Not only that, he, Mr. Somphong is their grandfather, and Wan, an old lady who is in the hospital is their grandmother. Surprisingly, Pim and Putt never knew of their existence. But they readily pack their bags and go live with their newly found grandparents while their mother recuperates in the hospital. As soon as they move in, they notice that not all in well with their grandparents. Mr. Somphong claims that Wan is suffering from dementia and taking medications for it. So they shouldn't trouble her too much. While adjusting to their new surroundings, Putt notices a hole in a wall. When he peeps into it, he sees a family of three having their meal. When he tries to bring it to Pim's attention, she ignores him. But once when Pim peeps through the wall, she sees a girl playing alone. Every time they peep into the wall, their sightings get more troubled and scary. But obviously, as it should be in horror movies, the grandparents claim they cannot see any holes in the wall. The movie at places will remind you of The Visit. But luckily the grandparents aren't that deranged. Yet. But soon, secrets start coming into the open. Mai gains consciousness and rushes to her children, and the story unravels from there. The plot has so many subplots that it gets a little too taxing on the brain. The unnecessary twists, new characters who don't do anything for the story, and twisted, somewhat anti-climactic ending, all make it disappointing. Honestly, watch it at your own risk! By SB
