There is no dearth of slasher flicks and to add to the list, Netflix has released another one on Wednesday. There is someone inside your house where a masked killer is targeting teenagers. What an unheard and unique concept right? But since it's October and in the spirit of keeping up with the theme, we endured the 1 hour and maybe 30 minutes of this one. So our protagonist Makani is relatively new to the town of Osborne but she has already made some nice and solid friends. She is also in a secret, complicated relationship with the school sociopath, Ollie. Her friends are Alex, Darby, Zach, and Rodrigo. The movie starts with the gruesome murder of a sports jock who brutally assaulted a gay team member. After his murder, the video that shows the incident is exposed to the whole town. The second victim is an uptight Christian girl who posts racist comments online. Well, you get the drift. If you have a deep, dark secret better beware because the killer is coming for you. Makani, who probably has the worst secret of them all is literally a ticking time bomb. She lives with her grandmother who sleepwalks. Her parents are divorced and she moved in with her grandmother after escaping from the horrible, unforgettable incidents of the past. When Makani is attacked one night, all the suspicions shift to Ollie because he was the only one who knew her secret. But obviously, that is not true because then the movie would have ended half hour before it did. The rest of the movie is about well, the exposure of the killer. ( Ironic right?) I actually liked There is someone in your house. It is your typical teen/young adult thriller with clandestine affairs, fiery pasts, a town buzzing with secrets and full of hypocrites. Even though there is an abundance of slasher flicks on Netflix, I think this one can make a mark of its own. No, it does not offer anything new, the ending is pretty predictable but it still makes you want to watch it till the end.
