This Is A Robbery: The World's Biggest Art Heist

There is something about mysteries. After more than 3 decades, the biggest art heist remains an open case. On St Patrick's Day in 1990, two men posing as policemen walked into Isabella Stweart Garnder Museum, tied up the security guards, and said "This is a robbery". They walked away with some of the rarest pieces of art by Rembrandt, Vermeer, Manet. Isabella Museum as explained in the documentary is an "Art thief's delight".It was built in 1903 and is nestled among luxuriant greenery, decorated to glory and housing some immensely precious treasures. Directed by Colin Barincle, this 4 part series attempts to understand what, who and how this heist took place. The Heist in itself is not that thrilling. Two men in police uniforms walked into the museum claiming to have got a call about the disturbance. The guards let them in and thus occurred a heist that remains unsolved. The men spent close to 2 hours inside the museum, picking and choosing what they wanted. Certain paintings were taken from the frames but left on the floor. Some were even said to be not so special in the art domain. The paintings, ever since stolen have never been sighted in the past 30 years. Nobody knows where these paintings are. Nobody knows why it was done. One of the handcuffed guards had been taped in a strange way which led to suspicions about the heist being an inside job. This created havoc in the world of art. The guards, the curator, the newly appointed Art Director all come under suspicion. But even now, with deaths, mobs involvement, and the suspects going from tens to dwindling to one. And even among those suspects, many have died of natural and some due to unnatural causes. Netflix has many documentaries on true crime, conspiracies, haunted experiences, and all of them have an ending. Some happy, some terrible. But this one still does not have an ending. The cash reward has gone from 1 million to 10 million dollars but everyone is still as clueless as they were 30 years ago. Pieced together with accounts from witnesses, guards, Art Directors, CUrators, FBI agents, the Boston Police, This is a Robbery is exciting and thrilling! By SB
