It is a law that when you release so many true crime documentaries and series, you should release heart-warming true stories too. And Netflix delivers the latter in the form of Vicky and her Mystery. The movie beings with Victoria and her father Stephan moving to the hills of Cantal. Vicky and her father have not been communicating since her mother passed away. No matter how much Stephan tries he fails to get Vicky to talk to him. One day, to bond with her, he suggests they go on a trek. Vicky doesn't respond. But she soon boots up and follows him out when he prepares for the trek. On the way, it becomes evident that they have lost the way. Stephan enlists the help of a solitary house owner. He shows them the correct path. Meanwhile, little Vicky sees a puppy outside and is encouraged by the stranger to take it along with her. Unknown to her father, Vicky sneaks the puppy into their house. Soon, they realize that the puppy, named Mystery is a wolf. Even after Stephan expresses his distaste for keeping a wild animal as a pet, he is reluctant to let it go after seeing the effect Mystery has on Vicky. In heartwarming parts, we see how Mystery helps Vicky cope with the loss of her mother and come out of depression. She bonds better with her father, making her bond with Mystery stronger. The movie moves slowly, with nothing more interesting than the endearing relationship that Vicky and Mystery share. But since all good things must come to an end, Mystery must be allowed to live in the wild, with her pack. Domesticating wild animals are nothing short of cruelty, no matter how much we love them. Vicky and her Mystery are going to leave you teary but with a smile. Their love is too pure. In the end, we are shown pictures of the real Vicky and her Mystery, who she had met when she was 3 years old. Watch this movie to warm your cold bones, during this cold, cold weekend. By SB
