All You Need To Know About Centaurworld Season 2

Centaurworld can be hard to describe without having seen it. Netflix's latest release is a whimsical, 10-episode musical with surprisingly mature themes and dark undertones. It's certainly one (of several) of the network's most intriguing new offerings. If you go in details it’s about a warhorse (Kimiko Glenn) who comes unstuck in the multiverse and finds herself trapped in a Dr. Seuss-like hellscape populated by centaurs almost exclusively to compete with their lollipop-and-gumdrop aesthetics. To navigate this new world and return to her own universe, Horse teams up with an alpaca, giraffe, zebra, finch, gazelle, ficus tree, and hippopotamus (all centaurs, by the way). On their way, however, they're sidetracked by talking leaves, aloof mermen, narcissistic tigers, judicial moles, and legitimately heartbreaking themes, accompanied by incomprehensible forces of darkness. The show's unanswered questions have left fans curious as to the show's future. Will it maintain that balance or will it embrace the dark turn that helped make the first season such a standout?

Can We Expect Centaurworld Season 2 Soon?

Netflix has been tight-lipped about the future of "Centaurworld," but a September 2019 press release indicates that the streaming giant originally committed to 20 episodes. So far, Netflix has only released 10 episodes of the first season, but a second season is almost certainly in the works. We can only guesstimate a release date based on the back-of-the-napkin math, since no official announcement has been made by the show's staff, cast, or producers. Netflix first announced the series on September 3rd, 2019. A second reminder: Centaurworld's first season was released on July 30th, 2021. This equates to a whopping 23 months of production - yet fans can almost certainly look forward to Season 2 shortly after that. Considering the existing ten episodes to build on - as well as the existing cast of actors, writers, and animators - a mid-2020 release date is our best guess for "Centaurworld" Season 2.

Who will appear in Centaurworld Season 2?

Among the show's most defining characteristics was the voice and musical talent of the cast. Kimiko Glenn was joined by Megan Hilty (Wammawink), Parvesh Cheena (Zulius! ), (Ched) Chris Diamantopoulos, (Durpleton) Josh Radnor , and showrunner Megan Nicole Dong (Glendale). This core cast of characters has not been confirmed to return by Netflix yet, but together, they represent the show's core cast. Moreover, unless there are significant creative differences or contract disputes, the plot of "Centaurworld" requires them to all be in prominent roles again (especially Dong as Glendale, who is, after all, the ship's captain). If the ending of Season 1 is any indication, it is likely that supporting actors like Jessie Mueller (Rider), Renee Elise Goldsberry (Waterbaby), and Lea Salonga (the Mysterious Woman) will join the cast in the second season. Besides the usual suspects from Season 1, who else could appear is truly anyone's guess. So far, Netflix hasn't mentioned any new characters or cast members for upcoming episodes.

How will Centaurworld Season 2 unfold?

Centaurworld's first season was filled with singing and dancing, jokes and banter, and horrifying dream sequences. What is Megan Nicole Dong planning for the next 10 episodes of her show? She discussed the development of the first season of Centaurworld with Collider critic Rafael Motamayor back in July. Motamayor asked Dong where his creative senses might lead the show in the future before the interview ended after nearly 20 minutes of exploring the show's influences, themes, character designs, and more. "After setting this world up in Season 1," Dong continued, "I'd like to take it to different places, meet different centaurs, different communities, in addition to exploring areas we've yet to discover. As well as exploring the history of the show, I would like to show more of its lore and backstory. [...] Why there is so much darkness to complement all the absurdity of the show." It isn't official yet, but we'll keep you posted on more "Centaurworld" news in the coming months.
